Volunteering adventure at EUSA European Universities Combat Championships 2026

The Albanian University Sports Federation (FSHSU) invites students, young people, and motivated individuals to join the volunteer programme for the European Universities Combat Sports Championship 2026, which will take place in Tirana, Albania, from 7–17 September 2026.

The event will bring together more than 1,500 student-athletes, coaches, officials, and university representatives from across Europe in four combat sports: Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, and Kickboxing.

Application Submission by 15 July 2026

Interested volunteer candidates complete and submit the online volunteer application form.

Interview Phase by 30 July 2026

The Organising Committee reviews applications based on availability, motivation, language skills, and preferred volunteer roles. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email to set an interview date.

Final Selection by 8 August 2026

The Organising Committee notifies the selected volunteers and requests their final confirmation of participation.

What is expected from volunteers?

Volunteers are expected to:

  • * Be willing to work as part of a team
  • * Have basic English communication skills
  • * Be responsible, punctual, and cooperative
  • * Show interest in sport, event organisation, and volunteering
  • * Communicate politely and professionally with all event participants
  • * Respect schedules, assigned tasks, and instructions from the Organising Committee

Be available during the event period, where possible. Availability for the full period is an advantage, but shorter commitments may also be considered.

Volunteer roles & tasks

Sport

Sport volunteers will support the organisation at the competition venues. Tasks may include guiding athletes, assisting technical staff, supporting the flow of people within the sports facilities, distribution of sports equipment, and helping with the smooth running of competitions.

Team Attaché

Team attachés will serve as key contact persons for participating delegations. They will support teams with information, orientation, accreditation, accommodation, transport, and daily practical matters during the event.

Sport Information (Venues and Accommodation)

Volunteers at information points will provide guidance on competition schedules, venues, accommodation, and key services. This role requires good communication skills and a general understanding of the event organisation.

Transport (Airport and Arrivals)

Transport volunteers will support participants during arrival procedures, especially at the airport. They will help with directions, transport information, meeting points, and movement towards accommodation.

Media

Media volunteers will support the communication team with photos, videos, social media content, short interviews, and coverage of sports and social activities.

Accreditation

Accreditation volunteers will assist with the registration and accreditation process for athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, guests, and other participants.

Volunteer Centre

The Volunteer Centre will be the main coordination point for volunteers. Volunteers in this area will support with information, shift organisation, distribution of materials, and general assistance for the volunteer team.

FAQ

Below, you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about volunteering.

Who can apply to become a volunteer?

Students, young people, and individuals interested in sport, event organisation, and volunteering are welcome to apply. Applicants must be 18 years old or older at the time of volunteering.

Do I need previous volunteering experience?

Previous volunteering experience is an advantage, but it is not mandatory. Motivation, responsibility, and availability are very important.

Do I need to speak English?

Basic English communication skills are required. Knowledge of other foreign languages is considered an advantage.

Can I choose my preferred volunteer role?

Yes. Applicants may indicate their preferred volunteer roles in the application form. Final role assignment will depend on the profile, availability, and needs of the event.

Do I have to be available for the entire event?

Availability for the full event period is an advantage. However, shorter commitments may also be considered, depending on the needs of the Organising Committee.

Will volunteers receive training?

Yes. Selected volunteers will attend two pre-event training sessions: one online and one in person.

Will volunteers receive a certificate?

Yes. Volunteers will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Albanian University Sports Federation (FSHSU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

Will accommodation and meals be provided?

Yes. Accommodation and meals will be covered by the Organising Committee throughout the volunteer engagement. More information will be provided in the next stages of the application.

Where will volunteering take place?

Volunteering will take place in Tirana, the capital city of Albania, in different event areas, including competition venues, accommodation sites, accreditation points, transport areas, media areas, and the Volunteer Centre.

Will it be worth it?

Yes. Volunteering at the European Universities Combat Championships 2026 will be a valuable experience for anyone interested in sport, events, teamwork, and international cooperation. Volunteers will gain practical skills, meet new people, work in a multicultural environment, and contribute to the successful organisation of a major European university sports event in Tirana.

Important: All approved volunteers will have to obtain a certificate of no criminal record.
